Bass Guitar Lessons At
Rattle & Drum
Why play Bass?
Often an afterthought at many music schools, we are passionate about teaching bass the right way here at Rattle & Drum, it's not just a big guitar with fewer strings!
Playing a crucial role in almost every band, a vital link between the rhythm of the drums and the melodies of the lead instruments, one of the joys of bass is that it is quite a straightforward instrument to get started on; we can usually get you playing music within a lesson or two!
Of course, as with most instruments, to become a bass master is a lifelong journey, but you can be having a good time and sounding great very quickly. And you'll want to make rapid progress because you'll be in demand before you know it! Bass players are in short supply so if you dream of joining a band or just want to have fun jamming with others it's a great instrument to take up.
Is it suitable for me?
We welcome beginners of all ages at Rattle & Drum, we have many adult learners as well as younger players. A common misconception is that bass guitars are too big for children to learn to play but this is not the case. While it's true that very small children might struggle, there are smaller sized basses available and children from around 7 years old should be absolutely fine. Parents are welcome to contact us to discuss this and you can visit us to check suitability for your child before making a booking.
While we love seeing the spark ignited in beginners we are also more than happy to assist players further along the path too! We have a number of bass teachers here that can provide guidance whatever stage you are at, so if you have been playing for a while and feel like you've reached a plateau we can get you moving forward again. Whether it is polishing up your theory or technique we will help you to become a better player.
Why choose Rattle & Drum?
All of our teachers are experienced musicians teaching professionally, comfortable with teaching children and adults alike and all are DBS checked and fully insured.
We have a dedicated teaching studio in Derby City Centre where we teach hundreds of students every week. We use the Trinity College London Rock & Pop syllabus with most of our students; it is a great path to learn the instrument and many students choose to study for grades, but this is not essential and you can set your own individual goals with your teacher if you prefer.
We are currently running an introductory offer of 4 one-on-one lessons for £30 so there has never been a better time to give it a go! If you would like to enquire about availability or require any further information please visit our Derby shop, call 01332 341414, email or contact us using the button below.
